Eckhardt-Gramatté Sound Studio


The Eckhardt-Gramatté Sound Studio is housed in the William H. Buset Centre for Music and Visual Arts. This multifunction studio is primarily used by student composers who have completed or are currently enrolled in composition courses. It also serves the Department of Music as a recording, sound processing and multimedia facility.

The studio was initially funded by the Eckhardt-Gramatté Foundation and has been subsequently supported by the Lakehead University Innovation Fund. Sound equipment, hardware and software are regularly upgraded to keep up with technological advances. The current profile of the Eckhardt-Gramatté Sound Studio is as follows:

  • Cubase VST 5.1 audio editing/processing
  • Digidesign Audio Media II
  • Finale® 2002 music notation application
  • Many other sound and image processing software (editors, compressors, players, converters etc.) as well as other DTP applications.
