In the Molecular Food Microbiology Laboratory at Lakehead University, we are tackling interdisciplinary research on microbial biofilms that is expected to significantly contribute to a safer food supply for Canada. We are currently expanding our research to include pulp and paper biofilms and work on the following key research thrusts:
  • Biofilm formation by the foodborne pathogens Listeria monocytogenes and Campylobacter jejuni

  • Extracellular polymeric substances of pulp and paper biofilms

  • Fluorescence in situ hybridization for the detection of Campylobacter jejuni
